About Dr Jay Wilmer
Our approach to care, and who we look after.
Our approach to care
Wilmer Medical Service is a general practice on Wollombi Road in Farley, run by Dr Jay Wilmer. Dr Wilmer is a GP with a special interest in geriatric medicine and emergency medicine.
We believe good general practice starts with listening. Your appointment is your time to explain what is going on, ask questions and make decisions together with your doctor.
We also believe in continuity — seeing the same doctor over time. When your doctor knows your history and your circumstances, it is easier to notice changes and plan your care with you.
And we believe care should come to you when you can’t come to it. Much of our work is visiting patients at home and in residential aged care across Farley, Rutherford, Telarah, Lochinvar, Maitland and the surrounding Hunter region.
Who we care for
We care for people at every stage of life, with a particular focus on older patients, home-care patients and residents of aged-care facilities. The practice also provides everyday general practice care — from urgent and routine consultations to health checks and immunisations.
Everyone is welcome
We welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, and we work to make the practice a culturally safe and respectful place to receive care.
We welcome lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) patients, their partners and their families.
If English is not your first language, a free interpreter is available through TIS National on 131 450. Let us know when you book.
